Vegan Restaurant: Coco-natural

The closest vegan restaurant to me is a cozy café called Coco-natural, located in Takasago in Hyogo Prefecture. Coco-natural is about a ten-minute walk from a train station called Arai on the Sanyo train line, out of the way for those coming from out of town, but it’s definitely worth the stop if you are coming from or going to Himeji, Akashi, or Kobe. I’ve been a handful of times and I always have delicious food and enjoy talking with the shop owner and chef.

Everything on the menu is 100% plant-based and vegan.

During my last visit I ordered a lunch set with vegetable pizza (sweet potato, lotus root, bok choy, carrot, soy milk cheese), salad, a side of vegetables, a light vegetable soup, a tofu patty. I also treated myself and chose to add a drink and a dessert for a couple hundred extra yen.

For my dessert I chose a slice of pie with sweet potato, apple, and assorted nuts (walnuts? mostly). The crust was amazing! Other dessert options include a variety of cakes, dessert french toast, and soymilk shake drinks.

Operating hours are normally from 10:00am to 6:00pm, with regular holidays (normally closed on Sundays, but please check Coco’s Facebook page linked below to confirm).

Address: 5-23, Higashihonmachi, Arai-cho, Takasago-shi, Hyogo-ken

Getting there via public transit: Ride the Sanyo train to Arai station. Take the north exit and walk up the main street for about 10 minutes, and Coco-natural will be on the right side of the street.
