Happy New Year! and Tokyo Eats 明けましておめでとうございます!・東京外食の紹介

I hope everyone had relaxing and enjoyable holidays! Happy 2017!

It’s been a month since my last post, unfortunately. I have been stuck, yet again, working on various things for work and trying to find new work… One of my resolutions for this year is to write regularly on here and I’m going to try my best to stick to that!

Anyway, I spent the New Year’s holidays in Tokyo this year with my friend. Luckily, I was able to go to many of the vegan and vegetarian places I had been wanting to visit for a very long time.

Places I went:

  1. VEG KITCHEN, Ueno (vegetarian and vegan) (Tabelog Info)
  2. Longing House, Meiji jingu mae (vegan mostly, some fish dishes were also on the menu) (Restaurant Website)
  3. Loving Hut, Jimbocho (vegan) (Restaurant Website)
  4. Nataraj, Ginza (vegetarian and vegan) (Restaurant Website)

  1. VEG KITCHEN has regional Indian cuisines (Northern Indian and Southern Indian) along with pasta and other more “international” choices on their menu. Vegan and non-vegan items are clearly marked, and the staff are very friendly and speak English. The lunch sets are very reasonably priced and you get plenty of food.

2. Longing House (No. 3) is part of a small chain of vegan/vegetarian/natural food restaurants in Tokyo. They have a salad buffet (pictured) and vegan parfaits and cakes. A lunch here will cost upwards of 1500 yen but I thought it was worth the price.

3. I’ve been wanting to visit the Tokyo Loving Hut ever since I first came to Japan but just never got around to it… It is hidden away on the second floor of an obscure building, but the owner seemed very nice and the “eel” rice bowl I had was really delicious. I can’t wait to go again the next time I’m visiting, or when my Tokyo lifestyle begins…

4. Nataraj is a chain of vegetarian and vegan Indian restaurants. I got vegan keema curry and vegan naan for my dinner. It’s on the pricier side, so maybe lunch would have been a better option.

Anyway, that’s all for now! Thanks for reading, if anyone’s out there!
